Psychatlas:
Forecast of mental health cases up to 2045

Psychiatric facilities are facing a systemic change: increasing care requirements are facing an increasing shortage of specialists and economic cost pressure. This makes it all the more important for facilities to plan capacities sensibly and in line with demand. Our atlas can support you with the following questions, among others:

• What is the current distribution of psychiatric and psychosomatic as well as child and adolescent psychiatric cases in Germany?
• What impact will demographic change have on my inpatient capacities?
• What regional differences result from the forecast population development per district?

The evaluation is based on the PEPP statistics at federal state level, whose treatment cases were methodically transferred to the districts and then extrapolated to 2045 using the population forecast. The resulting values serve as an initial, reliable orientation for future full inpatient capacity planning. Additional influencing factors, such as outpatient treatment and rising incidences, must be defined on a clinic-specific basis together with the service providers.
